Residencies for ACT based artists include:
- rent free studio space for 6 months at Gorman House Arts Centre
- Residents are eligible for inclusion in Blaze the annual ACT emerging artists exhibition at CCAS Gorman House * solo exhibitions at the Manuka gallery *access to CCAS facilities and professional support over the year * great networking opportunities
Applicants must submit the following:
- 5 jpegs of recent work
- CV (2 pages max)
- one A4 page project description (what you intend to do throughout the year
Applicants should:
- address the selection criteria listed below
- be based in ACT during residency period
- be available to exhibit solo at CCAS Manuka between March and June of the year following the residency
Selection Criteria
- evidence of innovation and a high standard of technical and conceptual excellence in the applicant's practice
- a record of pre-existing involvement with the ACT arts community e.g memberships, exhibitions, volunteering
- a solid committment to residence in Canberra for the period of the residency
- a willingness to assist with and participate in CCAS activities such as gallery minding, installtion, bar duties at openings from time to time

Goals of the Studio Residency Program
The pursuit of excellence in the arts through the provision of ongoing support to high achieving emerging artists
To provide ongoing career advice to artists as they develop their practices
To provide practical experience and at least two exhibitions, (one group and one solo) for emerging practitioners
To produce an environment in the ACT that facilitates sustainable careers in the visual arts
To encourage young people to stay, live and work in Canberra strengthening the ACT’s cutural development
To promote ACT artists In the other states and territories and assist in ceating opportunities outside of Canberra

What the studio residency program aims to provide to participants
Six six month residencies in the studios and on going professional support for the year
Rent free studio space in the stimulating environment of the Gorman House Arts Centre
Participation in a major group exhibition providing practical experience in working with other artists and a professional curator in a group environment
Rent free gallery space at CCAS Manuka for a solo exhibition
The opportunity to exhibit work at Mt Majura Vineyard in the year following the residency
The opportunity to sell work in a commission free environment for one year
