Meat and Potatoes

MEAT AND POTATOES is a free-standing, self-supporting installation. A large rectanglular packet of air envelopes the dimensions of the Manuka space, leaving approximately 50 to 60-cm walking space around the sides of the work. The audience is able to enter the work via a revolving door made from compressed cardboard, an interim environment that prepares the viewer for the hermetically sealed space.
The large scale, seductive and playful nature of the inflatable, brings an absurd tone to the reading of the work. Fundamentally, it is a space void of content and perhaps draws more attention to the mechanisms employed to maintain it.
