Landscapes of the mind

These works are based on long distant memories of the desert landscape, a minimal expansive place without form except for the horizon line. Ignoring the horizon line allows the paintings to present the expansive and immersive nature of the land, without boundaries. The lack of form becomes a colour-field, with a rich tapestry of earth and foliage having a incredible complexity of colour. Natural pigments such as ochres have the complexity required to present the feeling of place these paintings represent, it’s painting the Earth with earth.
