image: From Knackers, a satirical look at the world of Aussie rules. Focussing on the Saints rape scandal of 2004 and using a medieval style and structure, this work marries notions of football fanaticism with that of the crusades.

Collective Autonomy
Mark Hilton
Collective Autonomy is about the intersection of fact and fiction. It consists of three light boxes that investigate contemporary stereotypes, misconceptions and realities, with particular reference to recent incidents.
Each light box references a traditional cultural style: Medieval fresco, ancient Persian court painting and Chinese coffin lid carving. Using these diverse historical aesthetic approaches, the allegorical works grapple with unsettling socio political events in present day Australia such as the notorious murders at Melbourne's Salt Nightclub in 2002 and more recently the alleged culture sexual abuse in elite football teams.
